Q.      What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?

Here at Freeminded Hypnotherapy South London I use hypnotherapy to relax the concious mind and then give the subconscious mind helpful suggestions. When under hypnosis, you put your mind and body into a heightened state of learning, making you more susceptible to suggestions for self-improvement or behavior change. The goal is to put the subconscious and conscious mind in synchronicity, which in turn helps give you greater control over your behavior and emotions.

Q.      How does hypnotherapy help anxiety and stress?

Hypnotherapy for anxiety aims to find the root cause of the problem and change your relationship with anxiety. Hypnotherapy helps anxiety by boosting feelings of confidence and self-belief.  It can help you develop the ability to access the calm state of mind needed to overcome the often-overwhelming emotions that come with anxiety. Using the power of suggestion, hypnosis aims to access your subconscious mind and promote positive change. The suggestions themselves can be tailored to help you learn what triggers your anxiety and why, as well as changing the way you react towards them.

Q.      How many sessions will I need?

We will plan a course of sessions specific to your issue, each lasting 50 minutes long. Generally a course is

between 3 to 5 sessions but due to each case being different it may be longer.

Q.      What is the treatment like?

The treatment will consist of speaking to you about yourself and your past experiences, during this time I shall be using the information you tell me to form a treatment plan that will help you with your issue. We will then begin the 'hypnotherapy' part in which you will sit in a comfortable chair and be asked to relax and get comfortable. Many find this part hugely relaxing but also empowering. You will always be in complete control and never do anything that you don't want to do. Afterwards you will 'awaken' and you will be able to go about your day as usual.

Q.      How does hypnotherapy work for phobias and fears?

The aim of hypnotherapy is to communicate with the subconscious and change the way you feel and behave towards your phobias and fears.

The process itself involves putting you into a very relaxed, hypnotic state. I will talk you through this and you’ll be in control the whole time. If you’re unsure where your phobia came from, you may spend some time getting to the root of the phobia and remembering the event that triggered the phobia.

Q.      How does hypnotherapy work for low self-esteem and confidence?

Hypnotherapy accesses the unconscious mind and uses the power of suggestion to facilitate positive change. These suggestions can be tailored to help improve confidence levels. Generally, these suggestions will be positive and made in the present tense. For example, the phrase "you feel confident in everything you do" would be used rather than "you no longer doubt yourself". The theory behind this is that the unconscious can't differentiate between "you have" and "you no longer have".
